Presentation Abstract
THE USE OF THE RECTANGULAR LOOPS IN ALIGNMENT AND LEVELING
The continuous arch technique in orthodontics is the most widely used approach today. However, due to its configuration requiring the use of an archwire across all or nearly all teeth, it is impossible to avoid unwanted effects unless the arch is segmented. These spurious movements usually appear during the alignment and leveling stage, particularly in ectopically positioned teeth. In this presentation, the utilization of the Rectangular Loop will be demonstrated during the intra and intersegmental alignment stages as a valuable tool to mobilize dental pieces in all three planes of space in a more predictable manner, without affecting adjacent teeth. This approach helps prevent the undesired effects commonly associated with the straightwire technique.”
